Words & Music _ Interview With Lakker [Video]

Lakker _ Main

A video feature with the Dublin duo, including a tour through one of the tracks from Monad XIV.

We travelled to Dublin for a relaxed and friendly chat with Ian McDonnell & Dara Smith who spoke openly and humoursly about Lakker’s background, influences and their relationship with music. Towards the end of the video, they gave us an interesting behind the scenes look at ‘Asvattha’, one of the tracks from their Monad XIV release on Stroboscopic Artefacts, discussing some of their production processes and interest in found sound.

Over the last couple of years Lakker have particularly gathered momentum as musicians and live performers, dropping nothing but the finest of music on labels such as Blueprint, Killekill, Candela Rising, Reaktivate, R & S, Stroboscopic Artefacts and Ante-Rasa  During the interview, the lads attribute the quality of their recent output to a change in how they approach making music. With this in mind it’s impressive to see that which they have conceived skilfully put into practice and ultimately gain such successful and acclaimed results. It’s a very inspirational video in that regard.

We hope you like the words and music. Thanks to Dara & Ian for their time and an enjoyable evening in Dublin. And of course, Mic @ Dún Media for the video work. Appreciate it all!

Music production and history are my biggest passions in life. Though people often say that Techno is faceless and should be about the music blah, blah, blah.. I believe in the need to document the people and stories behind it. Techno is a very small world in reality and I think it needs a proper resource. I hope that everyone who is interested in Techno finds this blog accessible in terms of the way that it is written. I personally prefer to hear the artists voice as loud as the music and never enjoy synopsised and pasteurised versions of old conversation; the sort that's peppered with the occasional quote here and there.
