How People Live _ Interview With Alavux
Would you mind talking a little about your studio? I see on your site that you have a bit of hardware and share samples that you have created on it. Are you a synth fiend?
Well it’s an addiction. I have Roland Mc505 for years. Probably the best Techno / Electronic rompler and still is! I can see lot of people are sampling 909/808 kits nowadays. See, I predicted what can happen? š
I have also TR707 Drum machine, which I bought that before the hype. A Roland JX8P and Korg ER-1 too. Iāve got a Soundcraft Spirit Folio SX in Belgrade but here I have itās small cousin 12/2, a Roland R8 and Siel Orchestra, which is the Arp Quartet. It’s all tweakable as you can see and hear. All it needs is a good effect unit.
I read that you started off on trackers and used to sample the shit out of everything. I guess old habits die hard, eh?
Yes, dying hard š
Now I donāt need that. We have the internet. Back then, I just worked on various friends computers so I had to save some time with material where it was almost already there, just to get the basics. So..
Haha Have you spent a lot of time building up personal sample packs so that the creative phase is more fluid?
It’s connected. Sometimes I create a certain sound or a melody or effect chain and if it is not fitting in that song I mix it down or save the presets. Depends where I am working. I can recall it later if I get stuck somewhere and in that moment somethings happening š
Whats the best approach then to making music? Creating sounds or doing it as it happens?
No specific approach. It’s a matter of time space transmat š
Moment and inspiration.
Techno has sidechain. Is there a similar technique in Electro that is controversial?
Sidechain is nice tool , I prefer to avoid it because all those compressing techniques are sound illusions. Itās easy for people to fall on it. Nowadays in Producers techniques, everything is allowed.
War is not fair, eh? Any tools that you can use should be used! Haha
So.. any dates coming up during the summer? Have you any releases coming up with your label E75?
No, nothing planned. We are on a freeze with E75 at the moment, since I’m in other country! And electro has changed in meanwhile..
Well, I really enjoyed that album you released this year – Phutura. I thought the limited edition CDās that you did were a nice touch. Iāve noticed a few people doing that. I think it has more value for sure. Did you do many gigs with the record?
Gigs? What gigs?!! š
No. No-one offered any dates. Iāve stopped sending emails to people around and saying āhey we have an album.. Can we play at your Club / Festival.. and weāre from fucking far away and bringing Analogue / Digital gearā¦ ā
I doubt that theyāve even listened to a few seconds of the Soundcloud or You Tube links. In the last 2 months, there’s been 5,000 plays of the album on Bandcamp, so people are finding it.
It deserves to be heard. Its excellent Goran. Phutura is definitely one of my favourites. It’s epic.. but they are all great. Really good music Man. A solid album.
Anyway.. Iād like to say thank you for the mix. I havenāt listened to it myself yet as I like to tune in on the night of the show and listen to it for the first time with everyone and see the reactions from people on the forums and Facebook. Would you mind telling us a little about it?
Since space here in Skopje is tight, I invaded my daughters room to be able to put my gear somewhere. So no space for turntables. I was forced to do a āmixā in Sony Acid. I tried to present music that I like in the moment and felt deserved to have attentionĀ I usually prefer a mix of vinyl and digital. I will buy Serato soon
Ok, weāre coming to the end of this now. Weāll finish with some quickfire questions, haha ā if thatās ok? You can keep them short and snappy if you want..
Who is a hero?
Natasha (my wife)
Who is a zero?

The easiest and most impressive meal you can cook is..
Ā A Sandwich or a Hot Dog!
Whatās the last interesting thing that you read in a book, magazine or newspaper?
http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/rave-video-comments-will-restore-your-faith-in-humanity
Whatās been your career highlight to date?
The releasing of my album, Phutura and on the beginning of Ā the āSolo Actā. Also when Dave Clarke charted one of my first releases and played it constantly into his show .
Is there enough cheese in the descriptions and marketing of sample packs?
I don’t like cheese very much..
What track will be playing as you check out?
Elektroids ā Midnight Drive
This is how I imagine how people live in Detroit
