Opuswerk _ Wired Connections EP PL24 – Plak

If you missed the 180 grams of black wax, theres now another chance to pick up this superb EP with its jackin rhythms and filthy chords.

First up is Futurewerk, which is a collab with Fundamental Interaction.

The kick and bassline is so simple and driving, that had those scraping noises / reverb filtering on top been the only other element in the track, I’d have happily listened to it forever. Later, the dub chords develop a jackin call & response, which allows for the drum track to build in intensity.

You only appreciate the power of this track When the chime comes in at 03.24.. and then later, with the addition of the claps. Its a right deceptive monster and very well produced. Theres so much space between Hendriks nasty reverbs.

TH13-13 is a rhythmical masterclass. Unstoppable drive, with percussive synths and skippy hats; the filtered stabs keep throwing it forward. This is what drummers sound like in their head. My jaw honestly dropped towards the end. Wicked track!

Music production and history are my biggest passions in life. Though people often say that Techno is faceless and should be about the music blah, blah, blah.. I believe in the need to document the people and stories behind it. Techno is a very small world in reality and I think it needs a proper resource. I hope that everyone who is interested in Techno finds this blog accessible in terms of the way that it is written. I personally prefer to hear the artists voice as loud as the music and never enjoy synopsised and pasteurised versions of old conversation; the sort that's peppered with the occasional quote here and there.
