Musical Musings
‘Music can be more specific when it conveys information about sensations that are problematic to express with words because music can operate prior to the reconfiguration of sensations into words.” Stefan Koelsch
I often feel overwhelmed when listening to particular tracks and sometimes I am overcome with emotion, of which I was previously unaware. I also possess a deep desire to explore what it is the artist is trying to convey through the creation of their piece. On a larger scale, it is fascinating to observe how groups at an electronic music event can experience emotion and sensations as a collective. What attracts particular people to certain events? Perhaps it is due to ever-changing fragmented notions of the self and identity in modern societies that music can unite and bring people back to an innate tribal experience, held together by the beats that mimic that of the human heart.
