Rediscovered _ Interview With Kiazma

Kiazma _ 3

If you had to convert or encourage someone to defect to Techno.. what 3 tracks would you recommend they listen to?

Oh man, this is tough. I suppose I’ll start with this one:

Marcelus – Shape

This is one of the first techno tracks that I really got into back before I knew much about this kind of music. The main synth riff has such a great hook to it. I almost forgot about it but rediscovered it recently.

Blawan – Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage

Even more than the last track, this was huge for me. Blawan was one of those artists that kind’ve shattered my perception of music beyond what I was listening to a few years ago, and made me realize that I could communicate aggression and darkness effectively in the tempo of techno (rather than through the higher tempos of DnB).

Surgeon – Badger Bite

After discovering Blawan, I started delving more into the roots of the more aggressive side of techno, and all signs pointed to Surgeon. Killer track that’s almost as old as me!

Really cool tracks Jackson. Quality.

Music production and history are my biggest passions in life. Though people often say that Techno is faceless and should be about the music blah, blah, blah.. I believe in the need to document the people and stories behind it. Techno is a very small world in reality and I think it needs a proper resource. I hope that everyone who is interested in Techno finds this blog accessible in terms of the way that it is written. I personally prefer to hear the artists voice as loud as the music and never enjoy synopsised and pasteurised versions of old conversation; the sort that's peppered with the occasional quote here and there.
