The First Criteria _ Interview With Reaktivate Records / RKT
Do you want to tell us a bit about what you all get up to outside of RKT? I think you are all producing music, right?
Gustavo: After many shit projects I had in the past (go google it. Maybe you’ll find out what we did), I established Quantic Spectroscopy with Ivo and now got my own solo project called A Thousand Details. If you can call that music because I don’t 😀 ! I’m trying to convert Nuno into doing music like you try to convert a Vegan to eat cow… Damn old folks are hard to convince 😛

Nuno: I just DJ, really, and to be honest, I´ve been more enthusiastic about in the past than I am now. And I write promo texts for a big club in Lisbon, Lux. I´m always doing something music related, but no doubt about it, doing the label is my favorite thing, and the most rewarding. People keep saying “you have such great taste in music and know so much stuf, you´d make awesome tunes if you went into production” but I don´t think I have the patience or talent for it, to be honest. But who knows, I never say never to new things. Anyway, If you wanna hear what I do as DJ you can always check out it here:

Pedro: Yes I produce. This year I’ll celebrate 3 ½ years since I started. I passed through a lot of shit to produce. Lost time with friends to do music but I don’t regret nothing because I just love what I do. I’m not a big artist and I don’t want to be considered one. I just want to do what I like… with quality. Since I got tinnitus I had to stop for some time with music but I think I was having a good evolution with my music since I’m just 18. I still have plenty of shit to learn and to do. Now with this rest, I’ve had some time to think about things and soon I’ll launch my own label on bandcamp to release things just from me and my big friend Michael Johnson (Raven). Not that I don’t like the music from my RKT friends they know I do but i just have a connection with Michael that I don’t have with other people I know face-to-face. We share a taste in music that I don’t have with anyone else.

Ivo: About me, I’m the other half of Quantic Spectroscopy and I’ve just started a new solo project too, called Alfred Kopke. It’s a project more focused on production than DJing. It’s already got tracks being released soon on Propellant Music and Artefakt. Talking about Artefakt, it is the new sub label of Reaktivate. That will launch by the end of this year. You can check it out on Soundcloud in the meantime.

Music production and history are my biggest passions in life.
Though people often say that Techno is faceless and should be about the music blah, blah, blah.. I believe in the need to document the people and stories behind it. Techno is a very small world in reality and I think it needs a proper resource.
I hope that everyone who is interested in Techno finds this blog accessible in terms of the way that it is written. I personally prefer to hear the artists voice as loud as the music and never enjoy synopsised and pasteurised versions of old conversation; the sort that's peppered with the occasional quote here and there.
