Reeko _ Ella – Episodio II & III [MD15 & MD16]

I got this today and loved it as it reminded me of how Reeko opened his set the last time I seen him.

On Episodo II – Segmento 4 is definitely for the heart. Beautiful and beatless, it was incredible hearing it soar on the clubs sound system and I had to take it all in as I thought I’d never  hear it again. Gorgeous.

As far as I can remember he followed that with Segmento 3.. which complimented the deep and hypnotic vibe perfectly. The percussions momentum just grows and grows and grows. I really admire the attention to detail in Juan’s tracks, especially the incidental sounds that hes always adding to propel them forward.

Episodo III – is on the dub side of techno and is accurately described in the promo as showing a “maturity” to Juan’s productions. In terms of his quality and skill, these tracks show that he must be brimming with ideas. Segmento 5 is probably the most sympathetic to the grainy / bitcrushed dub techno sound.. but for me, Segmento 6’s early rhythms are classic spanish tech and I really like the way these tracks evolve to become more ambient towards the end. Its a real nice blend.

Out now.

Music production and history are my biggest passions in life. Though people often say that Techno is faceless and should be about the music blah, blah, blah.. I believe in the need to document the people and stories behind it. Techno is a very small world in reality and I think it needs a proper resource. I hope that everyone who is interested in Techno finds this blog accessible in terms of the way that it is written. I personally prefer to hear the artists voice as loud as the music and never enjoy synopsised and pasteurised versions of old conversation; the sort that's peppered with the occasional quote here and there.
